From the Editor: Mad Stuff’s Happening

There’s certainly movement all around, though not all necessarily with steps of ease. But in one way or another, this time will propel us to the next level of humanity, of society, of our own little lives, and they are all intertwined. As we face some pretty drastic (and some say, nasty) astrological weather, it’s important that we do our best to access the strength inside, which is both our own and a universal one.
Individually, we cannot stop the oil from spilling into a part of the ocean that will inevitably effect all other oceans, the rain that falls from the sky, and our food chain, but we can change the way we live our lives both externally and internally. There’s no time to wait for the government to save the world – they gave themselves long ago to the dollar which gets us nowhere without fish to eat or land safe from acid rain.
From that place, I feel strengthened to continue in the direction of living with purpose, making decisions with care not only for me, but for every living thing that surrounds me. Remember, being selfish is not a bad thing – it’s determining what truly makes you happy that can be the fuzzy part, with that buzz of instant gratification at obtaining the new iPhone offset by not knowing what the hell is gonna happen to all the discarded previous ones (it’s nice to think they’ll all be recycled, right?? Yeah…).
All I know is that it is time to think about tomorrow. Literally, like the day after today.
So I present you with my work, which hopefully makes some sort of a beneficial impact on this Earth and at least some of its inhabitants. Besides writing and editing for Living Holistically, co-editing Brave New Traveler, and freelancing for several publications, I also provide other services. Here are a couple you might be interested in:
Nutrition
For those who don’t know, I’m a certified Nutrition Educator, who works from a holistic (but of course) view, incorporating recommendations for lifestyle, bodywork, energy work, and vitamin/herbal supplementation along with a clear overview of dietary needs. I know seeing nutritionists can cost an arm and a leg, having seen a few myself, so I like to keep my rate relatively affordable: $50-70/hour sliding scale. I can be seen in person in the Asheville, NC area, or by phone/skype all over the world. Please contact me here if you have more questions or are interested in making an appt.
Dance
I also teach private dance lessons, specifically focusing on bhangra and hip-hop. Lessons are flexible, ranging from learning basic steps to advanced choreography. Obviously, this mostly takes place in Asheville, but I often visit the San Francisco Bay Area, so can schedule sessions during those times. Classes are $30/hr, or three hours for $75. Again, you can contact me here if you are interested in setting up a lesson.
Speaking of being in the Bay, that’s where I’ll be hanging my cute brown-stitched cap towards the end of July for about a week. During that time, writing/producing group extraordinaire Kanimoch will be putting on Hullabaloo II – bigger, better, and feistier than even Hullabaloo the first. I know, can you believe it? Here are the deets:

Finally, wanted to share a sweet interview I did a couple of weeks ago with Melissa over at the Friendly Planet Travel blog. Who knew I’d enjoy talking so much?
Last, but certainly the most important part, I’d love feedback on what you like – and hate – about this site. What do you want to see more of? What don’t you EVER want to read about EVER EVER again (and would like to shout, ‘just get OVER it, Christine’?). I’m ready – I can take it. ‘Cause ultimately, I’m not here if you’re not here. So help me out to know how to better serve your holistic wants and desires.
That’s it for this week (whew!).
